Maths

They have been studying how to find square roots in math. They created an example to show how it works and made a video or digital topic DLO to explain square roots. They want you to check out their project, which they made as part of Group 4.

Gagana Samoa

We made a  Google vid  with words in Samoan and English. The words are things kids do in school, like asking to go to the bathroom or borrowing a pen. We drew pictures on a computer to show what each word means so everyone can understand easier.

While making it, I learned more about the Samoan language and how changing words from one language to another helps people talk and feel sure. I had fun making the pictures and seeing how these words can help kids learn English. This shows that talking and understanding each other makes everyone feel like they belong.

cave man notes

Last time, LS2 students practiced writing very easy notes. They only used two or three big words. These words tell you the main idea. They didn’t write full sentences, just quick words to remember what it’s about.

Abstract Noun

This week, LS2 was learning about big idea words that can’t be seen or touched, like happiness or bravery. We made two projects to show what we can do with poems. We chose two of these big idea words and wrote poems about them. In one project, we also connected the poem to a story called The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.

TOD

The Kapa Haka group, performed songs and dances on a day just for teachers. Many people, including around 150 teachers, principals, and family members, watched them. The children practiced a lot and tried very hard to do well. They were confident because they worked hard. In the end, they did a great job.

Maths

A prime number is a number that can only be divided evenly by 1 and itself. For example, 3 is only divisible by 1 and 3, and 5 is only divisible by 1 and 5. No other numbers can divide them exactly without leaving a remainder.

Learning conversation Chapter 15

In that story, there is a boy named Shmuel who is very hungry. He is stuck because he has to wash dishes in Bruno’s house, even though he is starving. Bruno is a boy who finds out Shmuel is hungry. Bruno tries to help Shmuel by giving him a small piece of food. But then, an angry soldier named Lieutenant Kotler comes into the kitchen mad. Bruno gets scared and does not help Shmuel anymore while the soldier punishes him.

Learning Jouney

I made a DLO called a Learning Journey DLO. It shows what I learned in reading, writing, math, and AI this year. I put it on my blog so teachers and family can see how I’m doing.

While making it, I remembered all the things I learned and did. It was fun to see how much I got better and how much I understand. Doing this helped me get ready to talk about my learning and share it with others.

Learning conversation C13

We finished reading part 13. Now we have new questions. Some ask us to find special words called abstract nouns. These are words for ideas or feelings that you can’t touch, like happiness or sadness. Other questions ask us to describe the feeling or mood of the place in the story, like if it feels spooky or happy. We also need to think about how the characters are feeling. In the middle of the story, there is a picture. This picture shows what it was like back then. We used a computer program called AI to help make this picture, so it looks better and more real.
